A native of Chicago, Chris Bain has served the harp community for nearly 10 years and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Midieval History and a minor in music from Illinois Wesleyan University. He spent seven years working at W & W VENUS harp factory trained in master harp regulation, assembly, and was an integral part of reaserch and development for the company from 1999-2006. By the end of his tenure there, Chris' contribution to the company had directly helped to produce some of the finest instruments its 40 year history. His training and qualifications do not end at W & W.

 

    Chris studied under a couple of veteran Lyon and Healy technicians while working at Venus and is extremely familiar with Lyon and Healy construction and mechanics. He has been performing high-level regulations on these harps for years, and they are in fact a growing percentage of his customers, as are Salvi players. Wurlitzer and Aoyama harps are also on Chris's list of harps he services. 

 

    A traveling technician for over 5 years now, Chris has developed a loyal client base ranging from beginning student to symphony harpist to university professor. His work takes him coast to coast and abroad.

 

Chris is also a working musician and plays fiddle, guitar and bazouki. He performs with traditional Irish band, Bua, and traditional Welsh band, Crasdant. He has toured Europe and North America with these groups. Chris also has a personal Myspace page dedicated to his music.
